Seasonal Scents
S’mores, salty ocean breezes, moldy ski boots, sweaty people on the bus — what’s the smell you associate the most with the current season?

It is a beautiful summer day. The sun is shining and their is a light breeze blowing in from the ocean. I love the smell of salty ocean water and adding to that is the smell of sun tan lotion. For me that scent can take me back to the ocean to pleasant times on the boardwalk and on the sand so we can go swimming with our kids when they were little.
A trip to the beach also included, a little baby, a toddler and as time went on they grew up, but their brother came along. Plus there was the beach paraphernalia we had to carry with us. A playpen most of the time and back when we had our kids they were large and wooden and heavy, a cooler, blankets to sit on and of course we had to have toys.
The fun part was always slathering the babies in suntan lotion. Boy they hated that, but unless they were staying in the covered playpen, slathered they got.
Sun tan lotion will still bring back those memories even though those kids are grown up, approaching 40 and have kids of their own. Only my son is under age 30.
I miss those days.

Give me the mountains, smelling of green leaves and pinewood and the damp undergrowth……:)

I could have done one on the forests with the pinewood and the damp undergrowth. My friend and I explore the state parks quite often.

The foothills of the Himalayas start almost as soon as I leave my city, so that scent isn’t too far from me either. 🙂

I don’t have mountains to climb though. Just lovely forests.

They’re hills, but I love them nonetheless! 🙂

Ok I have hills too. I can’t climb or do much walking this year. We used to walk for an hour or more, but I can barely manage 5 minutes unless I am holding onto a shopping cart/buggy.

I know. But we can hope that you will climb those slopes again some day not too far in the future, can’t we?
