{ CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS….. } What is your Family traditions around the holidays? share your story!

Our Christmas story is mainly Christmas Eve when our family gets together to celebrate and exchange a few gifts. Not everyone exchanges gifts. It is more for the children. And this year we will have one who is almost 1 year old (January). Back to baby-proofing.

We set out a ton of food, which is always too much, but we never know how many are going to show up. Clean up is the worst part. I don’t mind setting up, but breaking it down is back breaking work it seems. I guess it is because the excitement is over. And my back really hurts, by then. I am usually settled upstairs by that time.

I am not very sociable and it is a strain for me to continue pretending to have fun. I hate to say it, but I just am not into social situations. Plus Mom has been gone for 3 Christmases now. She had Parkinson’s Disease, but she always loved Christmas Eve. Dad would wheel her out in the wheelchair and up to the table so she was right in the middle of things.

Christmas Day my oldest daughter would cook, but this year she can’t and so I am joining the older folks for a potluck. My dad and his bevy of women, minus my mom who used to be part of his bevy.

I think the older I get the more I dislike celebrating the holidays. All of them actually. Oh well my 2 girls love it. My son is like me and not very sociable.

That’s basically our holiday goings on.

Merry Christmas, Everyone! and a Happy New Year!

    Tessa,
As a child we used to celebrate Christmas a lot more I think than now. Now it is mostly a damp because I have someone in my family who is a Christmas Grinch. So my Christmas tradition would be trying to make the Grinch not to steal away the pleasures of X mas.
I think you are not un-sociable at all.
Wishing you a merry X’mas and all the blessings this heavenly season can bring.
    God bless !
