Trusting God on a Day by Day Basis

by Teresa Smeigh

Sins Against Your Own Body

Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality, sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.       1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Sex outside the marriage is a sin. It is a sin against your own body. Your body does not belong to you, but was bought for a price by God and belongs to him.

I sinned with God’s body outside the bonds of matrimony with a married man. That makes it sound more sinful. I had myself fooled all those years.

Tessa, you are one brave, bold woman. And very courageous too. In God’s world, you are ok and He holds you in the palm of his hand. I love you and Jesus does too.
God bless you, dear sister and hope you have a wonderful new year and that you forgive yourself.

Mortal man is liable to temptation; and we can all fall into sin. No one is immune to sin. When we sin we have to go to Him and ask for forgiveness. In my Church, this is called the Sacrament of Reconciliation. When you confess your sin and are absolved, you have to forget about it and move on. If we were to remember and carry our sins on our head, they would dwarf us. When I see you, I do not see your sins, I see someone created in the image of God. God loves us despite our sins. Who is mortal man to judge anyone? Remain blessed as the year draws to an end; and a very happy New Year to you my sweet friend!

Thank you for a great post. I have asked for forgiveness although I have not heard of your Sacrament of Reconciation. I still feel a need to confess. I guess it is time to forget it. The mistake has left my life and it will not happen again, illness or not. Happy New year to you do my friend.

Many have committed the same mistake. There are limitations to being human including the immoral mistakes of adultery. Seeking forgiveness and learning from these mistakes allows us to move forward in life with healthier bodies and healthier minds.
