Fibromyalgia Pain Relief Tip – Quit Smoking

Fibromyalgia patients who smoke cigarettes complained of more intense pain and have more difficulty in daily functioning as compared to patients who do not smoke. According to experts, smoking cigarettes lowers the amount of oxygen in your blood which can heighten pain sensitivity and worsen fibromyalgia symptoms. In addition, smoking is also found to weaken the effect of pain medications and antidepressants.

Now this sounds like another great reason to quit smoking. Who’d have thought it would affect pain and pain medications, plus antidepressants. Those on pain medications do tend to be on antidepressants as well.

Well fortunately and unfortunately I don’t smoke so I can’t vouch for this or even try it out to see if it helps my pain. If they’re right I would hate to smoke and make things worse for myself.

Your sources are accurate for the reasons you stated. Another good reason to quit smoking would include a greater sense of self respect and self worth. Smoking is a destructive habit that offers NO BENEFITS to the human body. To create a healthier and happier life, we need to get the MINDSET focused on better self value!
