Eating Healthy with Fibromyalgia

Many people don’t realized just how hard eating healthy can be for someone with Fibromyalgia. I can’t just go grocery shopping and shop the whole store. I can only handle a quick trip which means it is harder to keep fresh, healthy food available without making multiple trips to the grocery store. Too much shopping can cause a flare.

Those of us with Fibromyalgia tend to rely heavily on convenience foods and frozen meals to make food preparation easier to handle. We don’t have the stamina for long grocery trips or cooking large meals and then cleaning up. Fast food becomes more frequent.

Of course our diets may enter into the reason why we have such bad flare-ups. There are some foods that are definitely not recommended for people with Fibromyalgia. Sugar is one of the major ones and if you have a gluten allergy, you have to watch the foods that contain gluten which is in a lot of convenience foods. Foods that we tend to eat a lot of due to the convenience and not wanting to up our pain by over-exerting ourselves.

Yes, I understand. I easily remember standing in the store and realizing I needed something on the other side of the store and knowing I wouldn’t be able to make it there and back. It was just too far away. It wasn’t from fibromyalgia, it was healing from major surgery and I was using the cart to keep me upright. All you can is your best.

I hope someday you will find a way to make it better. We have to always have hope and determine to live our life as best we can no matter what. Keep encouraging others.

I hear you on outings. I have Fibromyalgia and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder means anxiety, emotional distress, depression, etc). If I don’t pace myself, I get very sick very fast. Two things I struggle with are doing too much when I have a good day and the judgement of others who say “You look fine, I don’t see anything wrong with you.” We just have to do the best we can, whatever that looks like for each of us. Gentle hugs of healing wished your way.

I still cook but it isn’t the joy it once was. I give out way too soon.
Shopping is the hard because by the time I am half way through I am needing to crash. The ride home hurts. Getting up the steps is a chore. Worse yet, I need to put everything away. Hugs
