Fibromyalgia and Restless Leg Syndrome

I have restless leg symptom. It makes me want to jump out of my skin. I did not realize til now that it was a symptom of Fibromyalgia.

Sometimes it is so bad I can’t sit or lie down. I stand putting pressure on it. Hard to do when you are supposed to be sleeping.

Tessa I have been using my electric blanket, I spread it out on my bed and lay on it. I have been having wide spread pain it is like having a heating pad on my body. I also have a fan so I don’t get too hot. I don’t know if heat would help your restless leg syndrome?

Thanks I don’t know if heat helps it or not myself. I can’t stand heat though and my room is warm enough even with AC and a fan. thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Tessa, I have restless leg symptom as well and it never occurred to me that it could be tied to my Fibro. Duh! I have an exercise machine that is a vibrating base with a handle. It goes at variable speeds and lengths of time. I use it for restless leg, numbness, and cramps in my legs. It also gives a good low-impact body workout when doing stretches on it. It is called Body Vibe and I don’t use it in all the ways they suggest but it does work for what I need it to. Here is a link to the one I bought several years ago on our Canadian Shopping Channel site https://www.theshoppingchannel.com/Body-Vibe/Fitness-Equipment/BODYVibe-Personal-500-Whole-Body-Vibration-System-with-Face-Cushion/pages/productdetails?nav=R:510656,N:100354,E:10073568. I don’t expect you to go and buy one but thought I would just let you know what has worked for me. I believe they are on Ebay for less. The technology is also used for children with cystic fibrosis and similar illnesses. Sorry for the long drawn out comment!

It was way out of mine as well. I got it through an inheritance. But just thought you could keep it mind. I know there are cheaper models or wondered if your health care would help.

I had restless leg with my fibro and also have diabetic neuropathy in my legs and hands that afffects my nerves and was placed on gabapentin. Once I started the gabapentin, the pins and needles from the neuropathy went away and so did the RLS. I know you are on a lot of meds but it may be worth checking it out unless you’ve already been on it and it hasn’t helped.
