If we were to have a coffee chat this weekend it would be about my new insulin pump. I didn’t want it. I hate change. The class showed me how easy it would be once I finally got it into my mind and not needing constant help be it the instruction manual or a real live person on the 24/7 phone center.
It will be expensive so I have to convince myself I am worth it. I don’t have all the numbers yet so don’t know how much it will finally end up costing me, but I went from 4 injections a day to one every 3 days (72 hours). I have noticed my glucose numbers are more even and lower and I have to be more careful what I put in my mouth as I have to count the carbs so the little machine can figure out how much insulin to dispense besides the hourly amounts it sends to help keep my numbers under control.
I have a tube always attached to me and the little machine. Certainly doesn’t do much for accessorizing LOL!

Yea – this sounds like a pain, but frankly it also sounds like small matters for someone as strong as you. Like a lot of other things, I’ll bet you got this too.

Thank you! It certainly has its advantages over 4 injections a day. It does take longer to change though, but 1 injection every 3 days sure beats 4 a day.

of course totally worth it, sometimes you dont know how much we can adapt to until we have no choice but to change, I heard someone say something along the lines of comfort being an enemy of progress
All the best

Thank you so much for the supportive comments. I was dead set against this, but people did not give up on me. They cheered me on. It is starting to become 2nd nature although still need help changing out the new equipment, but soon that too should be no problem.

Good luck with your new pump! I am glad to hear your blood sugars have been better with the pump. My husband has been using a pump for many years. It is an adjustment, but I’m sure in the long run it will be great for you.

Thanks, yes it is a real adjustment. It certainly makes me think about what I am eating.
