100 Word Challenge – inspiration is the word give

100 Word Challenge (give)

The Trip

by Teresa Smeigh 2019

Mona was looking forward to her cruise to Mexico with three of her friends. Mary was giving her a ticket.

Happily, the girls chatted over the weeks leading up to the trip.

The day they were to take off, she lugged her luggage to the curb and waited for the transport to the ship. When she arrived, the other girls were ignoring her.

“What’s up Mary?”

“You have the nerve to ask me that? What about Jack?”

“What do you mean?”

“I will not give a ticket to a man-stealer. I just found a love letter from you to Jack!”

*****100 words*****

Tara’s Rules

1) I provide a one-word prompt.
2) Write anything you want using that prompt, either as inspiration or as part of your 100 Words.(That means you don’t have to actually use the prompt word, it can be implied.)
3) Your story has to be EXACTLY 100 words (because someone will ask, hyphenated words count as a single word.) This is the one rule I will be a stickler about.
4) Submit your story here as a comment, as a Facebook status, or as a blog post. (Add the specific FB status or post’s URL to the Mr. Linky list just under the prompt.)
5) If you write a blog post, please link back to this post. It makes it easier for me and the other Wordsters to find you.
6) You have one week to write your story and link up (The link stays open, so you can really submit stories whenever… this is the one rule I don’t really enforce.)

Question: Can I Keep Working with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Question: Can I Keep Working with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

For me, the answer to this was a resounding no. My job, was not physical, but it was mental and the “Fibro Fog” inhibited my ability to think, multitask and learn new things easily. I also had other physical conditions and it was necessary for me to go out on disability. It has been 8 and a half years ago now.

Anyone who has tried to live on government disability knows it is not easy. My pain and mental problems are difficult to deal with, but there is no choice as it is not curable and in my case none of the treatments tried have worked.

The Decorations

by Teresa Smeigh 2019

Josie spent the day shopping and bought numerous new decorations for the house.  She hoped Mark wouldn’t be upset as she went over her house budget. However, she was just so darn tired of dealing with his temper tantrums. Everything made him mad nowadays.

“What the hell,” was followed by a loud crash of breaking glass.

Rushing into the living room Josie found Mark lining up the bat at another of her new purchases. “Two,” Mark shouted as he shattered the second one.

The final crash brought tears to her eyes.

“That was your third strike. Get out of here now, Mark.” Josie turned and left the room and didn’t look back.

Racing Antics by Teresa Smeigh 2019

Numerous scooters and dirt bikes raced loudly through the wooded trails. The boys suddenly decided to dart out on the road. Here insurance and helmets were required.

“Cop,” someone announced.

The boys split up and raced off fast. Kenny was tearing down the road back to his house. He swung the scooter around the corner and dismounted in front of his house, leaving it running with the key in it.

He jumped off and ran past his startled parents just as the cop pulled up and inspected the hot engine and keys in the ignition. “Son, is this your scooter?”

Rules from Linda G Hill:

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!
