Antonyms: distress, torment, torture, trouble

Nothing I could do was soothing the baby. She continued crying for what seemed forever.
I continued to look to see what was tormenting her. She’d been fed, burped and changed.
I reached down to check to see if she was wet again and I found the trouble. Ouch! The pin in the baby’s diaper had come unhooked and it was sticking her.
(PS I am old enough to have used real diapers and pins and sticking a baby wasn’t totally unusual)
