Anniversary Anyone?
By Teresa Smeigh 2019
Sandy’s husband simply couldn’t remember an important date. Every year, year after year, they would end up fighting over his forgetting whatever date it happened to be. To him it was simply not important.
Sandy tried to ignore every event he would forget, but finally one year she had had enough and shouted at his back, as he left the house, “Ten long years and you can’t remember my birthday or our anniversary.”
Sandy sat there crying into a tissue as she felt so alone. Finally looking up she noticed a small jeweler’s box sitting on the table. Feeling bad for yelling at him she realized that he had remembered their 10-year anniversary. She opened the box and there was a diamond pendant with 10 spelled out in diamonds. Then she remembered that in her haste to put him in his place she realized that she herself had forgotten their tenth anniversary. Now she really cried, feeling so bad for her behavior, when he hadn’t forgotten one of the most important times in their marriage.
