Three Things Challenge: PL54

Three Things Challenge: PL54

Rules from originator:

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge. Every day at 10PM (PST) I will post three seemingly unconnected things that will, hopefully, ignite your muse. You don’t have to use all three things if you don’t want to. There are no restrictions on length, style, genre, or anything. Simply read the prompt, see where your muse takes you, and bring us along for the ride. Use 3TC as a tag if you’d like and link back to this prompt, or post your link in the comments below so others can find you.

Happy Writing! 😀

Today’s prompt: martini, tire, whale

Whale Watching

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Being up on the craggy point overlooking the ocean sometimes led to seeing some whales. Ginger knew this and thought it would be fun to show her new boyfriend. She mixed a martini batch and led Sean up to the point where she whale watched.

They found a couple of old tires up there and settled in to watch, martinis in hand. They were each on their second martini when a pod of whales surfaced on the horizon.  They watched until their martinis ran out and then left for home.

Peeping Tom?

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“I feel like someone is watching us,” I told Ken uneasily. We were in the bedroom and the blinds were closed, but I was getting that feeling that someone was watching us.

Ken promptly got up and went to the windows and peeked out the sides. He saw someone standing there on the porch, but not looking directly at us at the time. He motioned me over and I looked out.

“I will have to change my milkman.”

Tenth Anniversary of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge – Letter H is For Hallucination

Tenth Anniversary of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge

I have chosen to write for the mental health topic. It is very important to me that we support all those with mental health issues and I personally suffer from a good amount of them myself.

Hallucination

The below definition for Hallucinations was taken from Wikipedia. To read more click here:

hallucination is a perception in the absence of external stimulus that has qualities of real perception. Hallucinations are vivid, substantial, and are perceived to be located in external objective space. They are distinguishable from several related phenomena, such as dreaming, which does not involve wakefulness; pseudohallucination, which does not mimic real perception, and is accurately perceived as unreal; illusion, which involves distorted or misinterpreted real perception; and imagery, which does not mimic real perception and is under voluntary control.[1] Hallucinations also differ from “delusionalperceptions”, in which a correctly sensed and interpreted stimulus (i.e., a real perception) is given some additional (and typically absurd) significance.

Hallucinations can occur in any sensory modality—visualauditoryolfactorygustatorytactileproprioceptiveequilibrioceptivenociceptivethermoceptive and chronoceptive.

*******************************

I have Hallucinations quite often. Hence my last hospitalization for mental health changed my diagnosis to include psychosis and not just Bipolar Disorder. I have seen things most of my life. People, spiders, cartoons, mahjongg tiles (this was really silly as they were dancing around my room) and many other things. I also suffer from audio hallucinations. I hear voices, especially a voice calling my name over and over waking me up. I also hear music that just won’t stop. Hearing the same song over and over can make you want to scream.

What Did I Tell You?

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“What did I tell you in the beginning,” Robert questions Tammy.

“I know what you told me, but I hoped you would change your mind,” she faltered.

Decisively he says to her, “Tammy I told you over and over I would not leave my wife for you. We are having a great time and that is all I am looking for. I have a wife; I don’t need another. I don’t want to hurt you, but I can’t hurt her either. We need to end this now before my wife finds out.”

Tammy stood there vacillating, neither moving to leave nor trying to talk him out of it. She knew he had made it clear he wasn’t looking to leave his wife and wouldn’t. She was the one who kept going and hoping she could change his mind. She should have gotten out of this relationship long before she fell in love with him.
