    Paralyzed with Fear

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Pulling myself out of the burning building, smoke affecting my breathing I choked out, “That was horrifying!”

(Non-fiction, I experienced a burning building up close and personal.)

Tenth Anniversary of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge – Letter R is for Racing Thoughts

Tenth Anniversary of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge

I have chosen to write for the mental health topic. It is very important to me that we support all those with mental health issues and I personally suffer from a good amount of them myself.

Letter R is for Racing Thoughts

*******************************

Everyone occasionally experiences situations that cause their mind to race. Imagine that feeling amped up several notches and persisting without relief and you have an idea of what it’s like to experience racing thoughts. This symptom often signals a hypomanic or manic episode in people living with bipolar disorder, although there are other possible causes.

Click here to check out the article.

You simply can’t sleep if your thoughts are racing and won’t shut down.

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : Memoir Writing, increased pain

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : Memoir Writing, Pain

Directions from ECLECTICALLI

Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!

Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?

All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from Friday February 8th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday February 11th at 7am (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!

*********************************

If we were to have a coffee chat this weekend or maybe ice tea as the temps have risen to the near 70’s or higher at times of the day, almost every day now. It rarely drops except overnight sometimes. I am still complaining about the heat in my 6th floor apartment. I still have the air on to try and bring it down some. The fans are going too! I doubt we will have too many cold days from now on. I pay electric so running ac from April to October or November is running up my bill. I actually had to pay my first electric bill since I moved in a year ago. It was $1.95 LOL! I qualify for help from the state for my electric bill and I don’t pay for heating although it is hardly on so the bill wouldn’t be much if I did pay for it, but I’m glad I don’t anyhow. What helped last year was the cooling grant I qualified for because of my asthma. I need the air to keep my asthma under control and help with the wheezing during very humid days. I don’t know if that is available every year or not. Halfway through the year we did get a supplemental one which was what helped keep our bills low along with the monthly discount from the state.

I have been reading a lot of books and web sites on writing memoir. I even laid it out in Word and started filling in the chapters. Trying to find the section of my life to write about was a little harder. Memoirs are just small sections where an autobiography is your whole life starting with “I was born on…” I decided on my marriage, running just prior to and my husband joining the military and those military years, then through getting out and on until the divorce. Still trying to decide if a paragraph at the end on what led me to be who I am. I believe childhood is part of what makes us who we are as adults.

Tomorrow is brunch with the BFF. Wait all week for this.

My pain is just so bad right now. And to top it off the pain doctor cut my pain pills from 4 a day to 3 a day. Still trying to find out why she cut them. Having to wait those 2 extra hours allows the pain to really get a hold of me before I can take the next pain pill.

Have a great week everyone!

Redecorated My Little Spot on WordPress

I was up last night later than usual. I was watching the ball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Colorado Rockies. It ran into overtime due to a tie and unfortunately the Phillies lost after about 12 innings.

Anyhow I started to play with my blog design. I like the theme and its ability to have different pictures. It comes with a few pre-designed ones, but has the option to make your own. So I grabbed a bright picture of flowers and using www.picmonkey.com I made it cropped to the right size. I can also change the background colors to fit. I also changed part of the title on top.

I can change that picture as often as I like and with different background colors depending on how I feel.

Three Things Challenge: PL65

Three Things Challenge: PL65

Rules from originator:

Welcome to the Three Things Challenge. Every day at 10PM (PST) I will post three seemingly unconnected things that will, hopefully, ignite your muse. You don’t have to use all three things if you don’t want to. There are no restrictions on length, style, genre, or anything. Simply read the prompt, see where your muse takes you, and bring us along for the ride. Use 3TC as a tag if you’d like and link back to this prompt, or post your link in the comments below so others can find you.

Happy Writing! 😀

Today’s prompt: nephew, fern, spaghetti

**************************

Food Fight

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Jamie, my 2 year old nephew, was happily pulling the fern out of the pot when I called everyone to dinner. We were having spaghetti, which isn’t exactly good for a toddler to eat. He has trouble picking up the long, thin noodles with his fingers and forget a fork. Someone would have to feed him.

His mother filled his plate and put it on the high chair tray while she went to get his little fork out of his diaper bag.

All of a sudden he grabbed a handful of the cut up spaghetti and tossed it across the room as hard as possible and hit me on the back. I turned around and without thinking grabbed the spaghetti on my plate and threw it at him. Food fight!

SoCS for Saturday April 20, 2019

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS April 20/19

Here’s your prompt:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rib.” Use it as a word, or find a word with “rib”in it. As always, use any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Here’s the rules from Linda Hill:

1. Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing (typos can be fixed), and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.

2. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be. One sentence – one thousand words. Fact, fiction, poetry – it doesn’t matter. Just let the words carry you along until you’re ready to stop.

3. I will post the prompt here on my blog every Friday, along with a reminder for you to join in. The prompt will be one random thing, but it will not be a subject. For instance, I will not say “Write about dogs”; the prompt will be more like, “Make your first sentence a question,” “Begin with the word ‘The,’” or will simply be a single word to get you started.

4. Ping back! It’s important, so that I and other people can come and read your post! For example, in your post you can write “This post is part of SoCS:” and then copy and paste the URL found in your address bar at the top of this post into yours.  Your link will show up in my comments for everyone to see. The most recent pingbacks will be found at the top. NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, such as Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

5. Read at least one other person’s blog who has linked back their post. Even better, read all of them! If you’re the first person to link back, you can check back later or go to the previous week by following my category, “Stream of Consciousness Saturday,” which you’ll find below the “Like” button on my post.

6. Copy and paste the rules (if you’d like to) in your post. The more people who join in, the more new bloggers you’ll meet and the bigger your community will get!

7. As a suggestion, tag your post “SoCS” and/or “#SoCS” for more exposure and more views.

8. Have fun!

Ribs are so messy and for that reason I rarely partake in them. I hate messy food.
