The Green Box

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

No one saw it appear, but suddenly there was an ornate green box on the table. They all stared in fascination, but with a touch of horror in their hearts. Where did it come from and what was it doing there?

A voice started to come out of the box in a language they didn’t know. They all stared at it and then at each other.

John said, “I think it is trying to contact us. I’m hitting play.” He looked around the box looking for something that he could push to make contact. As the box started to light up he pushed the lighted area.

“Hello, he said.”

The box zapped him and he started shrieking. They all ran from the room. Obviously they hadn’t come in peace.
