Lessons Learned
By Teresa Smeigh 2019
Jean and John were out for a ride with the kids. The kids were warned not to stray off and to stay away from the ruins off to their side.
Looking over their shoulders they realized the adults were deep in conversation and so they took off for the ruins.
Just as they neared the buildings, Marshall’s horse tripped and broke his leg. The boys screamed for the adults. When then got there and saw the situation they had no choice, but to shoot the ailing horse. The boys were heart-broken. It was a terrible lesson they had to learn.

I keep telling my kids to learn this lesson – listen to your parents! Hopefully it won’t come to this though!

I was holding my breath, hoping neither of the kids was hurt. Sad ending, lesson learned. I hope.

Yes a hard lesson, but at least the children were fine.

What a lesson to learn, indeed. Not the one I expected with this story’s beginning, but powerful all the same. 🙂 ❤
