Weekend Writing Prompt #107 – Spin – by Sammi Cox

Weekend Writing Prompt #107 – Spin – by Sammi Cox

Sammi Cox’s Rules:

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem/prose must contain this week’s word.  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem/prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.

Rhonda was beginning to get very edgy worrying about whether Robby’s wife might show up.

She wanted to go home as the woods were scary enough for her with the bear showing up, that she wanted to run worrying that Robby’s wife might show up at any time.

A car door slammed, Rhonda wanted to spin around to check it out, but Robby was holding her tightly. “Rhonda, relax. Other people walk in these woods too. My wife is not stupid enough to try something while there is a chance of witnesses.”

*********************************

If we were to have a coffee chat this weekend or for me ice tea for sure since I don’t drink coffee and it is too hot for hot tea, I would tell you that my feet are still swelling occasionally. Went to my doctor for my after hospital follow-up. I went in my slippers and he said they look ok right now. I have to watch salt intake, weight gain (I put on 4 more pounds in the last couple months), use compression socks or stockings and keep my feet elevated over my heart as much as possible. I don’t mind staying in bed with permission LOL. It is hard keeping the pillows in place and every time I wake up I have to fix the pillows as my feet have pushed them halfway off the bed.

I would also remind you that Sunday is the weekly brunch with my BFF. Tomorrow is supposed to be humid which means my breathing will be affected again. I am still having a problem breathing even with the nebulizer treatments.

Flood

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“The garden looks nice this year,” Mrs. Chalmers said. “You must have done a lot of work on it this year.”

“Well, Betsy is old enough this year to help me so I have had some extra help,” Samantha said.

Just then her two boys troop into the kitchen covered in mud. “What the heck have you been doing?”

John said, “We were playing in the pool.”

“What pool,” said Samantha still staring at the mud dripping all over the floor.

“In the backyard,” John said.

Samantha ran outside to find her back yard flooded.

“Betsy,” she yelled.

“What mom?” Betsy yelled back.

“Why is the back yard flooded and just look at my lovely garden.”

“Oh sorry mom, I must have left the hose running.” She wasn’t the least bit concerned at her mother’s feelings about the garden and its loss.

Mrs. Chalmers did her best to calm her down. Betsy took off and went back to talk to her friend on the phone.

The kitten wandered past and Samantha picked her up and held her while she cried.

Obviously, Betsy wasn’t old enough to be trusted to help in the garden. Samantha would start again on her own this time. She could only trust herself.

Share a time you went to a movie theater.

Summer Memories — Drive-In Movie Theater

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

When our children were young there were still drive-in theaters around. For slightly more than the cost of one movie, you could see three movies. On top of that, we would dress them in their pajamas and put them in the back seat with blankets and toys. They simply went to sleep when they were tired. We could watch all three movies and not pay for a babysitter.

The Link Between ATP and Low Energy in Fibromyalgia & CFS

Why We Have Low Energy and How to Fight It

****************************

I think part of my problem right now is my fibromyalgia is in full flare. My exhaustion is horrible. I can barely get out of bed let alone do anything. My apartment is a mess and it feels like I get 2 steps forward and then 3 back. And the pain is tremendous compared to the normal pain from my disorders – arthritis, degenerative disk disease and then top it off with a full flare of my fibro.
