Cassie woke up among the garbage in the alley. She tried to remember how she had gotten there and for that matter how would she get home.
She started to remember being at a party with her friend Stephanie. Where was Stephanie and why had she left her alone?
Cassie knew no one who had been at the party. They were Stephanie’s friends and she never should have gone with her and she certainly shouldn’t have drunk anything. She doesn’t remember if she drank too much or for that matter, she may have been drugged with something in her drink. Her last real memory was getting a drink handed to her.
She was still sitting among the garbage she woke up in. She tried to get to her feet. She stumbled and reached for the building that was near her and slumped down to sit again.
She searched for her handbag. It was nowhere to be found. Great without her phone how could she call for help. She was furious with Stephanie.
She heard sounds around her and figured it was rats searching for food. She didn’t want to be their breakfast. She struggled back to her feet and tried to find the opening to the alley.
She finally found a main street and looked for a street sign. She wasn’t sure, but she thought it was somewhere near Stephanie’s house. She hobbled down the street and found Stephanie’s house.
She knocked and Stephanie answered. “Where have you been? I have been looking for you. Why did you leave with that guy last night?”
“What are you talking about? I didn’t leave with anyone. The only thing I remember is taking a drink and waking up in the alley and without my handbag. I couldn’t even call you.”
“Sorry Cassie you seemed happy when you disappeared, and I assumed you had left with him. I thought you had met up with someone you knew. You must have been drugged and I assumed you left with that guy. I am sorry I really didn’t know.”
“We have to go to the police and report the loss of your handbag and ID, phone and whatever else you had on you. I think I remember where the party was, but I was pretty much out of it myself.”
“I gather you don’t want to go to another party tonight do you?”
“Stephanie are you nuts? Come to the police with me, please. No more parties, ever!”
