Reena’s Exploration Challenge – 93

Reena’s Exploration Challenge – 93

Reena’s Rules:

PROMPT:

I normally link a word to a picture for the prompts, but not this week. The picture is so intriguing that I dare not superimpose my thoughts and influence another’s imagination. Let the prompt take you wherever it goes.

Art is by Tolga Girgin.

White Out

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

This art reminds me of my visit to the psychiatric hospital after I tried to commit suicide. There was no color in my world, just a lot of empty faces of people I didn’t know and didn’t really want to know. I was so tired of looking at them and having to make conversation with them as part of the treatment. Color slowly came back into my life and I was allowed to go home.

A woman friend once shared her experience with some kind of spiritual healer – a realization that people are at different stages of evolution and will take their own time. If her husband was abusive, she was not responsible for his Karmic cycle. Refuse to let people impose guilt on you. Dissociate from toxicity. Your love may not be returned if the two souls are at different stages of evolution, living out different cycles. As we say in common parlance – wavelengths do not match. I find it difficult not to judge (though I may stay silent), but being judgemental has not helped anyone.

Tessa, the first thing I thought of the picture was of how bleak it looked, like a blank slate. For a person who was at a point of wanting nothingness, being in a bleak environment like that isn’t what would help. Having something to reach out to would seem a lot more healing. Why they make psych wards bleak is a real mystery. Every one should have a giant garden with a skylight over it. I’m glad color came back to your world and you left there.

Yes the environment is oppressing in those places. My dad’s long term care put in a large wooden cage filled with beautiful birds. I just wish they had put them in their community room for them to enjoy.
