Losing my psycho-therapist and now office is closing for good. No more therapy for me.

I had been told by my therapist a couple of weeks ago or maybe a month ago that she was leaving and she would help get me set up with a new one in the office. Psychotherapy is not like a cold where any doctor will do. They need to know everything about you. What is going on in your mind. So I was apprehensive, but I have seen her for quite a few years and figured she had a good idea who would be best. Yesterday’s session I was supposed to meet her and she would sit in.

I got there and settled in and I talked to my therapist for a bit and then finally I asked her if the new therapist would still be sitting in. Then she drops the bombshell. There was no reason to, since the office was closing its doors for good. I was speechless at this point. The situation was already bad enough, but now I would have no one. And they recently moved to this office.

I go there pro-bono (no fee) for about 4 years or so since they didn’t accept my new insurance and I really couldn’t afford to keep paying the copay although that was one of the options. The owner decided since I was a long-time patient (9 years) and that I needed it, he would allow me to see a therapist pro-bono and that was 1 session every week. I really can’t complain, but it does mean that I can’t continue in therapy, not even once a month. My current therapist said I could follow her to her new employer, but insurance and copays would be in effect even if they accepted my insurance. I know there are places that use a sliding scale, but adding any other medical fees to my over-stretched budget just can’t happen. I will have to struggle through life on my own like other people do. I am thankful for what they did for me, but now it is time for me to take care of me.

It might mean more complaining on here, but it is, what it is.

One-Liner Wednesday – (10/09/19) – Medical Profession Mainly Useless

*********************

I no longer believe in the doctor’s chances of fixing anything that is wrong with me, it just keeps getting worse.

Rules from Linda G Hill:

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our lovely badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!
