Why I Write!

I write to keep my demons at bay

darkness descends, I long for day.

Putting my demons on the page

helps me lessen the terrible rage.

The rage within must not get out!

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga) that alludes to independence. You do not have to address the political, although you’re welcome to. Consider the idea of independence itself, and how we manifest it–and toward what end.

My Savior (poetry)

My Savior

By Teresa Smeigh July 2016

The dark is creeping along within.

I cannot stop it or push it out.

The sunshine has long gone in.

I am left with plenty of doubt.

I know it is part of God’s plan.

Part of his reasoning for me.

I just wish he would let me in

Why must it be secrecy.

I must fight the darkness.

Not let my beliefs waver.

God is my life, my Father.

God is my savior.
