Crazy Sleep Cycles

All my life I have dealt with irregular sleep cycles. There is no rhyme nor reason to them and no predicting them.

If I don’t have plans during the day I don’t care what hours I sleep because I just sleep when I am tired. However with all the doctor appointments and the visits to my dad at the rehab facility I don’t know when I will be sleeping. I am taking naps whenever there is free time as I am feeling so drained and exhausted. It could be partly due to the meds I am taking although they tend to change over time so I can’t pin it to a specific medication.

If I lie down and I am not ready to drop off to sleep my brain just goes round and round and the racing thoughts drive me crazy. This is due mainly to my bipolar disorder. Also due to my fears that something is going to happen and so it runs through my mind non-stop. When I do get to sleep I usually suffer from nightmares. Horrible ones at that. If I sleep more than an hour or two at one time I am usually shocked since that is not normal for me. If I sleep for more than 6 hours straight it is even worse because there are more bad dreams and I am confused when I wake up.

Sometimes I just watch the clock go around and around and around. That is pretty bad also. And I usually fall asleep just before the alarm is set to go off. Nothing helps me get to sleep anymore. I take it when I can get it.

Getting a Sleep Study with Fibromyalgia or CFS

Getting a Sleep Study with Fibromyalgia or CFS

I have had about 3 of these. Take something unrevealing to sleep in such as shorts and a t-shirt. In my case there wasn’t time to shower and you did not see a doctor after it. All places are different and the bathrooms were public, not private. I ended up leaving with that goop still in my hair. Even the one that I had a chance to shower it all didn’t come out. I had to go to work after one of them and I had yucky hair for the day. Maybe your lab will have weekend appointments, but wouldn’t count on it.

My fridge is lower carbohydrate now and more healthy

I have fresh vegetables including broccoli (Danny Ray is saying “I told you so LOL”). Meats, high in protein (good for diabetics) and no carbs.

One of my problems with the insulin is that my meals must be more regulated. No eating, munching whenever I feel like it. Will be good in the long run and may even lose weight, but driving me crazy right now.

My fitbit announced at 2PM that I had hit my walking goal for the day. My goal is still low. It is just under 2000 steps per day right now. May be time to raise it.

My antidepressant is still working except for the mood swings (manic right now, or maybe hypo-manic) and I am sleeping too much still. Appointment tomorrow. She might lower it or raise the mood stabilizer. This has been the best one so far aside from the initial reaction to the Cymbalta which lasted 8 months.

6 Acupoint Massages You Can D.I.Y to Help You Sleep Better

Give these a look-see. They just might help. I haven’t tried them so can’t vouch for effectiveness of them.
