Halloween Goodies

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“What are those,” Ronny asked the old woman who was dressed as a witch? “They aren’t candy.”

She climbed into the car with a bunch of old ladies dressed like witches. “They are the eyeballs of little boys who are nosy,” she replied and they all started to cackle.

Ronny started running for home yelling for his mom.

Rocket Scientist

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“Can I poke around,” Fred asked? He was just a bystander but the explosion suddenly out in the middle of the field caught his interest.

“What do you expect to find out there, sir,” the fire department head asked?

“Well the place of the explosion is quite unusual, and I am a rocket scientist and I am interested.”

“Well, I doubt you will find much of any interest out in the middle of a field of flowers. I guess you can, save me the trouble.”

I have been to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania. Beautiful place. I don’t make gardens. I hate the outdoors and I don’t have a green thumb LOL!

“I don’t know what it is, but it sure smells good,” John yelled across the yard at his neighbor Reggie. “I am glad we decided to have this potluck barbecue.”

“Hey John do you see the catsup?”

“No, but why does that gnome have red stuff all over his mouth?”

They both contemplated the gnome.

Today’s prompt: How do you release your stress?

THE HAUNTED WORDSMITH

********************

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Sometimes writing will relax me if I can get into something I really want to write and I don’t have to think a lot about it. Sometimes reading will do it, if I am not so stressed that I can’t sit still. Also, binge-watching something if it interests me enough.

The Partridge Family

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

I loved “The Partidge Family” with David Cassidy. I think most teen girls were in love with him. Funny thing is that I am watching “The Match Game” right now and his father, Jack Cassidy is on these few episodes. I remember when his father died at a young age.

I was also in love with Bobby Sherman and Shaun Cassidy (David’s brother).

Summer on the Boardwalk

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“It cost how much?” Mandy asked her daughter.

“Just 15 cents,” 6-year-old Rhonda replied.

“What costs just 15 cents,” Mandy asked her.

“Everything,” Rhonda replied.

Mandy doubted it so she went over to the display window and looked in. She figured the postcard probably cost 15 cents. She was pretty sure that the sunglasses and those other objects whatever they were had to be much more.

“So you want a postcard, Rhonda?”

“No, mommy, I want sunglasses. The sun is hurting my eyes.”

“Sorry honey mommy doesn’t have enough money for sunglasses right now.”

Rhonda threw a temper tantrum and Mandy left her standing there. She came running up when she realized her tears weren’t going to help.

Haunted Wordsmith Daily Prompt (Non-Fiction) – May 29, 2019

Today’s prompt: Share something about the city you currently live in.

Williamstown, NJ

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

I live in Williamstown, NJ. According to Google, Williamstown was named after King William IV who was the monarch at the time of discovery, earlier the town was known as Port Harwood. At one stage Williamstown looked like being the site of what would become Melbourne but the area didn’t have enough fresh water to sustain a much larger town.

Williamstown is a suburb of Philadelphia with a population of 15,191. Williamstown is in Gloucester County. Living in Williamstown offers residents a suburban feel and most residents own their homes. Many families and young professionals live in Williamstown and residents tend to lean conservative.

I have lived in Williamstown twice in my life. 20 years ago I lived in a duplex which is located across the street from where I live now in a senior highrise. I am on the 6th floor and I can look out my window during the window and see my old place. On July 4th I can see about 8 different fireworks shows at once and the sound comes from the one right near our building. Quite a show.

Painting My Newborn

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

“Teach me,” Bob pleaded with the artist.

“I am busy right now. You have to sign up for a class.”

“Oh please, I want to paint my newborn before he gets any older.”
