Fibromyalgia Treatments

I mentioned some of these a while ago, but it pays to mention it for my new followers.

  1. acupuncture – I haven’t tried it and doubt I ever will (hate needles) but others have mentioned that it helped them
  2. oil massage – I have tried this and you need a massage therapist who is familiar with fibromyalgia and who will listen if you want to stop because they are hurting you. Not every massage therapist is familiar with the pain of fibromyalgia.
  3. chiropractor – I have been seeing one regularly for about 6 years now. I currently have a back ache, a severe one, and had to go sooner. Regular treatment for me now is every other week.

Fibromyalgia and Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy has been widely recommended to ease Fibromyalgia pain.

Regular massage therapy is suggested to be done a minimum of once a month.

Depending on your massage therapist they can make a difference in pain during the treatment.

I had stopped massages because they had been painful, but my daughter found a place that was able to do a massage for me without pain.

Fibromyalgia and Massage

I used to love massage. Nothing like a great massage to soothe my aching soul.

Unfortunately one day the massage was so painful I could barely let her touch me. I finally made it through and managed not to scream at her. I didn’t understand.

Years later I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I understood why it hurt. 2 of the pain trigger points are right where she was concentrating her massage. I figured my days of massage were over.

My daughter also has Fibro and has massages all the time. She says they help her pain. I finally went to her massage therapist, made sure she understood I have Fibro and had a comfortable massage.

It is possible to have a massage with Fibromyalgia, you just need the right practitioner and type of massage. Always let them know before they start. A good practitioner can give you a healing massage.
