No snow predicted for this weekend so we can have coffee with no interruptions. This has been an expensive week for me. First I decided to have cable and internet WiFi added to my apartment. What I wasn’t expected was that my endocrinologist decided my diabetes which has become worse and gone from type 2 to type 1 that I need an insuling pump. I am not sure how that is going to fit into my already tight budget, but he feels that it would be better for my health. If I had known I would have probably put the cable and internet off, but oh well I love having tv and internet like I was used to. The iPhone hotspot worked, but not well.

We have several days in the near future where they are predicting snow again. Come in and get something warm to drink. I live on the 6th floor and unless it is very windy and that is cold windy I have my windows open and the heater off. I rarely need the heater on up here. Not that I have to pay for the heat anyway. It comes with the rent. I just have to pay for my electric which includes an electric stove, but I don’t cook  much so that isn’t a big deal. With the help I get from the state I haven’t paid an electric bill yet and I have been here almost a year now. Cool!

I need to try and shower tonight. After last week’s fall I couldn’t lift my legs up enough to climb into that huge tub. I wish I just had a shower. My days of soaking in the tub are over with all my body aches. If I got in I would never get up and out. It is hard enough taking a shower.

It is just after 10:30 PM Sunday night and the long predicted snow has started. It is light now, but supposed to be for 2 days so who knows what it will bring. The bad thing is this week is full of doctor appointments. Hoping that it amounts to nothing. I can no longer shovel so depending on what we receive in inches will depend on whether I have to cancel or not. I live in a senior high-rise apartment dwelling and they don’t want us out and about until they have cleared the driving and walking areas. Heaven knows I can’t physically do it so will have to wait until tomorrow and see what develops.

I could use a nice cup of hot tea right now. I have my windows open since I live on the 6th floor and the heat rises. Rarely do I have to put the heat on and my windows are almost always open and while inside I live in shorts all winter.

My body is still aching more than usual due to the fall on the concrete floor here on  my knees. Public housing, so no carpets with padding just that indoor/outdoor carpet that covers the concrete. Ugh! Not my first fall either.

If we were having coffee I would be mentioning how my epidural (steroid) shot is wearing off .

Last night (Thanksgiving) I had dinner with my middle daughter, boyfriend and her son. After we ate there we went to the boyfriend’s family dinner and they had a robust Italian dinner with lots of Italian desserts. All of which I shouldn’t have eaten. I did though and increased my insulin to bring my numbers down.

I will be heading to my weekly brunch tomorrow morning with my BFF. We both look forward to that. I had several lows to treat, dr won’t be happy.

I am still changing my bills to the the new bank. As I pay each one this month I have to make the change. Soon I should be done with all the changes due to changing banks.

Have a great weekend and God Bless You All!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: Tuesday is my epidural (steroid) shot

If we were having coffee I would be mentioning how my epidural (steroid) shot is this coming Tuesday. I am relieved and terrifed at the same time. I am afraid of needles though giving myself shots 4 times a day is helping me get over it. But the possibility of relief of this God-awful pain gives me hope .

Today is my EKG for the epidural. I am used to them. I have had so many of them it isn’t funny.

I will be heading to my weekly brunch tomorrow morning with my BFF. We both look forward to that. Having diabetes limits my choices of food and I am on insulin. I take 3 shots with meals and a long term shot at bedtime. 4 a day plus all the finger pricking. I have been on insulin since June 7 of this year, My A1c has come down a lot and my daily readings are usually pretty low and under control usually anyhow. I have an occasional relapse for a special occasion or a low because I miscalculated my carb count. The Endocrinologist won’t like the lows. He wants my sugars above 100 and I am determined to get the numbers down to a normal range for a normal person, not normal for a diabetic. Well my numbers seem to be over 100 this last week. Should make the doctor happier. I had no lows to treat.

I am still changing my bills to the the new bank. As I pay each one this month I have to make the change. Soon I should be done with all the changes due to changing banks.

Have a great weekend and God Bless You All!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: pain has lessened some, even forget my pain pills occasionally

If we were having coffee I would be mentioning how my pain from my Degenerative Disk Disease, Stenosis of the spine, arthritis and Fibromyalgia is constantly coming and going but has actually lessened quite a bit.

I actually have times where there is no pain and I am forgetting the pain pills whereas in the beginning I was anxiously watching the clock for the next one. My lumbar epidural is November 14. Finally less than 2 weeks left. I still have to get the EKG though.

I will be heading to my weekly brunch tomorrow morning with my BFF. We both look forward to that. Having diabetes limits my choices of food and I am on insulin. I take 3 shots with meals and a long term shot at bedtime. 4 a day plus all the finger pricking. I have an occasional relapse for a special occasion or a low because I miscalculated my carb count. The Endocrinologist won’t like the lows. He wants my sugars above 100 and I am determined to get the numbers down to a normal range for a normal person, not normal for a diabetic. I belong to a group that has those goals. We eat under 50 carbs of grams per day and most under 20 carbs per day. Most people are losing weight with the low carb high fat diet or Keto diet (way of eating – WOE), but not working for me this time. Keeping my numbers lower, but not losing weight. So frustrating.

I got my automatic direct deposit in my new new bank account this morning and I closed my old bank account and now will be working with just the new one. Hopefully I remembered to change all automatic payments. I hated it when he asked me why I was closing it. I spun a half truth, half fib story. None of their business actually.

I wanted to get my hair cut before my lumbar epidural, but my favorite stylist is booked up until the day of my procedure so unless she gets a cancellation today I won’t be getting it done til a few weeks from now.

Have a great weekend and God Bless You All!

#WeekendCoffeeShare: pain comes and goes

If we were having coffee I would be mentioning how my pain from my Degenerative Disk Disease, Stenosis of the spine, arthritis and Fibromyalgia is constantly coming and going.

I had to fight all week to get my pain management dr to fax over the request for the EKG (due to diabetes) so that I may start my epidural treatments. Mailing took them 8 days and I wouldn’t have gotten an EKG appointment in time. Got the last one just before my first back epidural and that took 3 days of constantly every few hours calling pain management for the fax.

The good news is that the pain has decreased some and comes and goes now.

As for my daughter, her arm was not broken. She broke all the capillaries under the skin and shows no bruising just terrible swelling. Workman’s comp wants her to work and she can’t . There is nothing there for her to do. She does dialysis nursing.

They found out that the cabinet that fell on her was not attached to a stud but to the dry wall. Dangerous place to work. Possible lawsuit has been discussed because that is very dangerous and she is in constant pain and swelling and they won’t give her anything for the pain except Tylenol. Plus she hurt the other arm while trying to stop the cabinet from hitting her where it did. They will not address that.

I will be heading to my weekly brunch with my BFF. We both look forward to that. Having diabetes limits my choices of food and I am on insulin.
