Fibromyalgia Treatments

I mentioned some of these a while ago, but it pays to mention it for my new followers.

  1. acupuncture – I haven’t tried it and doubt I ever will (hate needles) but others have mentioned that it helped them
  2. oil massage – I have tried this and you need a massage therapist who is familiar with fibromyalgia and who will listen if you want to stop because they are hurting you. Not every massage therapist is familiar with the pain of fibromyalgia.
  3. chiropractor – I have been seeing one regularly for about 6 years now. I currently have a back ache, a severe one, and had to go sooner. Regular treatment for me now is every other week.

I’ve often pondered acupuncture (needles on of the few phobias I don’t have) as a treatment for depression and anxiety. Unfortunately, being in the middle Bumbleep, midwest and so many therapies not covered by insurance…I doubt I will ever get the chance to even find out.
Oil massage sounds painful as I can’t even stand backrubs.
Chiropractor, again, insurance issues. Hope you can find a method that works for you, your budget, and your peace of mind.

My chiropractor has kept me on even with my insurance when it is one he takes basically covers nothing much. I pay a set fee each month and he eats the rest. Currently my therapy is free (pro bono) since they dont’ take my insurance and am a longtime patient. Not all drs do that. It is $80 out of pocket for my meds monitor and prescriber. No insurance for her either.

I have tried it once on my person, but can’t afford it. I had someone doing Reiki over the airwaves or whatever you would call that. She wasn’t doing it hands on.

Thank you, I didn’t pay for the inperson reiki session as a free session was offered to drum up business. And I didn’t pay for the ones over the airwaves either.
