Unexpected Company

The family watched the front door. There were noises on the front porch signaling someone was out there, but who? They were all home and it was late at night, too late for company.
“Look, it’s opening.”
Robert grabbed a baseball bat from the umbrella stand. They didn’t keep firearms in the house due to the children.
Robert motioned the family behind him and cocked his arm ready to strike.
“Hello, my dear children. Mommy’s here.
“Grandma?”
“Oh mother, you almost got hit by a baseball bat, why didn’t you warn us you were coming?”
