I have written a little bit before about my writing process, or at least my ideas on the writing process and community as a whole (I don’t know if anyone is really interested in my writing process), but I have not talked about my publishing process–until now.
Let’s pick up from the time you have a completed manuscript sitting there waiting for you to do something with it.
There’s the traditional route and its plethora of query letters, comp titles, letter and title revisions, partial requests, crossed fingers, and a lot of rejection emails–form, personalized, and no responses at all. This route has millions of eager writers hoping to be discovered and picked up by an agent and publisher. It also has a 4% success rate–that is 4% of submitted manuscripts are eventually published.
