The Weekly Smile 04/15/2019 #weeklysmile – memoirs
I have been entrenched in my research for a memoir, not to mention starting to write for it. I used to write little snippets of my life as non-fiction and post them, but now I have to pay more attention to what can actually be a chapter rather than just a snippet and posting the whole thing on here is counter productive if I were to decide to go through and actually write a memoir. Writing them for my writing groups is good because we proofread and edit each others work so I find that helpful. My Smile? I just wrote one of my first chapters (not the first one though). Probably still needs work, but I am starting to work on it and that is progress. I still post some small snippets if they fit a prompt, but not a whole chapter. I will need to read a few as well to get more of an idea then just what the book says.

Trent’s Rules
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones 🙂
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! 🙂

“There are days I go in search of the kind, compassionate, loving and beautiful. Despite what we sometimes see on the news, FB and elsewhere, there is much more beauty in the world than ugliness, much more kindness than hate or cruelty. Perhaps we should all have a goal to make at least one person smile every day.”

It’s great to be able to organize your thoughts like that. I most likely will never write a memoir, but some day I may do a “just for Trent” little autobiography to put the chapters of my life in order. Looks like you have a start on that.

Yes a start. Having written a lot of those short stories for my blog give me a start. I am feeling serious about this so I hope that I can make it happen. It won’t be easy. An autobiography is easier with your whole life whereas a memoir is just a portion of your life. Finding enough to make a section work for a book is going to be hard, but I have the time to work on it since I am not working.

Good luck with it. having the snippets in blog posts should help in that some of it is down, if not organized into chapters or edited to fit the theme you decide on.

Yes, I am going back and looking for those that I wrote already for the blog. Some are going to be complete rewrites because they will need more detail to make it a chapter or I have to combine like things in some way. The chapter I worked on today included several different stories under a like category.

Thank you, I am up to five although this one is a difficult one and I am putting it off. Might have to skip over it for now and then work on it at a later time so all work doesn’t stop.
