Weekend Writing Prompt #123 – Delicate – by Sammi Cox

Weekend Writing Prompt #123 – Delicate – by Sammi Cox

Sammi Cox’s Rules:

The challenge is simple: each week you will be given an exact number of words you can use to write a poem or piece of prose.  You can use any format or style you like; go wherever your inspiration takes you.  The only rules are these:

  • your poem/prose must contain this week’s word.  The word does not have to count towards the exact word count total – it can be in the title, or the first letters of the lines of a poem can spell it out – you can be as creative as you want as long as it’s there somewhere.
  • the length of your poem/prose must match the number of words stated in this week’s challenge.  No more.  No less.

*continuation from last weekend and a couple of months worth

 (Last Weekend I wrote)

Everyone jumped, and Linda went back to crooning to something.

“You know Ron this wouldn’t have happened if you had taken me to the museum as you had promised,” Linda said.

“I thought you would like this better and we could have some time together alone,” Ron said.

“Alone?” She said. “We haven’t been alone since we got here and your wife and her retinue arrived right behind us.”

“Sorry Linda,” Connie said, “but I had unfinished business with my husband, so I followed you. You have to understand he is my husband and not yours, and now it is time for him to make a decision as to who he wants. I am not waiting any longer. You are still here in the picture. I am tired of it.”

“Linda, I am sorry, but I do owe it to Connie to try and work it out.”

********this week********

“Linda, I am being delicate here, but you just aren’t receiving the message,” Ron said.

“Oh, I receive it, you don’t follow through on your promises.”

“Listen, when we were discussing what we wanted, I was expecting my wife to leave me, but as it is she is willing to give me another chance and I am going to take it, and that means you and I are finished.”

“Well, she just might change her mind when she hears that I am pregnant.”

“Ron,” Connie says, “Is this true?”

“I don’t know with her, but she will have to prove it for me to believe it.”

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : New Air Conditioner

#WEEKENDCOFFEESHARE : New Air Conditioner

Directions from ECLECTICALLI

Weekend Coffee Share is a time for us to take a break out of our lives and enjoy some time catching up with friends (old and new)!

Grab a cup of coffee and share with us! What’s been going on in your life? What are your weekend plans? Is there a topic you’ve just been ruminating on that you want to talk about?

All are welcome! Just add your link to the Linky-List, and be sure to visit others and join in their conversations! The link will be open from Friday, February 8th at 7am (Pacific Time) until Monday, February 11th at 7am (Pacific Time) to give us a good range of “weekend”!

*********************************

If we were having coffee, I would be drinking iced tea because I hate coffee and it’s still hot. My broken air conditioner has finally been replaced. You may have coffee or tea, whichever you prefer.

It is actually cool enough to have the ac off and the window is closed. I do have the fans in the bedroom running because I like it cool when I sleep.

The apartment complex is doing something to the parking lot and it is super confusing and no one knows what is going on or where we can or can’t park. I am really stressed out about it all.

My breathing problems are easier. Still bad, but not as bad.

My writing has slowed down some and I added a new possible project. I am spending so much time sleeping that there isn’t time for anything else.

I would also tell you that Sunday is still brunch with my BFF. We meet every Sunday including this morning unless something comes up, which isn’t often. I look forward to it.

Enjoy your weekend.

Surprise Birthday!

By Teresa Smeigh 2019

Dana was not used to the high heels. She wore flats since she was 6 feet tall and taller than most boys as it is, without adding high heel shoes. She had a handful of Birthday balloons filled with helium, which she assumed her boyfriend Toby sent her early this morning.

Today was her 21st Birthday, and she wanted to start it out with a bang. Suddenly she falls off the heels, and she falls with a bang on the road, and that wasn’t the type of bang she meant.

She let go of the balloons in shock. She grabbed her knees in pain. They were scraped and bloody. Tears started falling. She searched for a tissue but ended up wiping the tears and blood on her torn white dress, not caring about staining even though she was on her way to visit her boyfriend. The tear in the dress had already ruined it, so the stains didn’t matter much.

Sitting on the road crying she fell someone come up and put their arms around her. She jerked back and looked at who had grabbed her and was relieved to see Toby.

“What happened to you? And where did those balloons come from,” he asked her.

“I fell off these blasted heels and didn’t the balloons come from you?”

“Sorry you fell, hope you didn’t hurt yourself too badly, but no, the balloons aren’t from me. These are,” he said. And then she noticed the balloons in his hand.

“Oh they are so much prettier than these, but who gave them to me?”

“A mystery. Do you have a secret admirer?”

“Not that I know of. I like yours better.”

He gives her a quick kiss and then checks out her wound. It had stopped bleeding, and he gave it a quick kiss and held out his hand to help her up. Just then Rodney came racing up and shoved them both to the ground. The balloons flew away, and Rodney started kicking Toby over and over. Dana took off a heel and hit Rodney in the head knocking him out.

“Those darn heels were good for something,” they both said at the same time.

Rodney was coming to so they took Toby’s belt and belted his hands together and called the police.

“Happy Birthday, baby!” They could hear the sirens in the distance. Rodney was trying to get loose.
